How to: become a member and book a swim

10 March 2022

In order for your open-water swim to be officially recognised by the CLDSA (and recorded for posterity in the CLDSA database) you have to have a current membership (R300 per year), AND you have to register that swim (R200) with the CLDSA BEFORE you swim.

So, a non-member would pay the R300 membership fee, valid for a year, as well as the swim fee of R200.

To become a member

Visit https://cldsa.co.za/shop/membership/. Read the information presented to you then scroll down and click on the Add to Swim Bag button.

Next, click on the green link View Swim Bag.

To register your swim

Visit https://cldsa.co.za/shop/swim/

Enter the swim details, including the proposed route, eg Robben Island or Cape Point or Langebaan, the proposed date, as well as your category, eg skins, wetsuit, assisted category, and your skipper and observer’s details.

Click on Add to Swim Bag, and proceed as above.

Get your CLDSA certificate

Once you have completed your swim, and your swim details have been loaded onto the CLDSA database, your certificate will be automatically emailed to you.

Final Step

Find a good frame to hang that certificate in pride of place!
