Summit Programme

CLDSA aims to encourage transformation within the open water swimming community, focused on changing demographic profiles in open water long distance swimming by ensuring access to resources, skills and swimming community. Our Summit programme is the sponsorship and mentoring of developmental swimmers to complete their first Robben Island crossing. We call on current CLDSA members to submit written nominations to our chair.

Summit Nominations

How do i nominate a swimmer?

Write a motivation as to why your nominated swimmer should be selected for this sponsorship.  Ensure that your nominee is an existing swimmer, who have ambition to complete to complete their first Robben Island crossing and will be comfortable to be a CLDSA ambassador. They must be 18 years and older.

What support does the CLDSA provide?

Subscription to Michelle Weber’s Robben Island training programme, mentoring support,  sponsoring of skipper fee, CLDSA membership and swim registration, CLDSA merchandise, attendance at the annual awards function and a personalised medal.

What will be expected of the swimmer?

To complete a Robben Island crossing within 6 months of signing up to the Summit programme.  Be a CLDSA ambassador for 6 months. Promote CLDSA on social platforms and events, sharing their experience and wearing CLDSA merchandise.
