Sustainable Speedo Swimwear

22 July 2022

Speedo has stepped up its sustainable swimwear offering with the launch of three new fabrics made from recycled plastic – Eco Endurance+, Eco Endurabrite, and Eco Enduraflex.

Feel comfortable and confident every time you swim with the right swimwear for you. At Speedo, we’re dedicated to creating swimsuits for every type of swimmer. Whether you’re doing laps in the pool, a daring open water swim or the occasional refreshing (but icy) morning dip in the Camps Bay tidal pool – we’ve got you covered. Our ranges have been designed to meet the needs of various groups of swimmers, from the everyday professional to the novice swimmer.

We couldn’t find a fabric that delivered the same Speedo performance with less plastic pollution, so we created our own. This innovation uses unwanted fabric and plastic bottles that would otherwise be destined for a landfill. From this year, 35% of our swimwear fabric will be eco-friendly – a step towards our target of 100% by 2030.

If you are experiencing swimsuit decay, your swimwear might not be 100% chlorine resistant. Designed to last longer, Endurance+ is a 100% chlorine resistant fabric which will ensure that your swimsuit keeps its new feeling. Endurance+ is exclusive to Speedo and every suit created is quick drying and engineered to retain its shape swim after swim. In addition, Endurance+ offers 20 times more fade resistance than conventional swimwear fabrics, improved snag resistance, and UPF 50+ sun protection.

If you swim once a week or more, then Endurance+ fabric is for you. Comfortable, quick drying, and chlorine resistant for long-lasting performance. If you swim less than once a week then Endurance 10 is a great fabric choice. The fabric is soft and stretchy and contains Creora HighClo, which ensures your suit will fit like new for longer. It also has higher chlorine resistance than standard swimwear fabric so it will keep its colour for longer.

The ShapeComplex Ultra

Last but not least, we wanted to highlight our ShapeComprex Ultra fabric which combines shapewear innovation with swimwear technology. This power fabric, controls and shapes the body, giving a smooth silhouette. This fabric is ultra-chlorine resistant and lasts twice as long as standard swimwear fabric. This range is the perfect combination between functionality, comfort and style.
