The Spring Equinox Swim 2025

23 October 2025

The season changed and as it did, Cape Town Open Swimmers emerged from winter. On a fabulous spring day in September, the West Coast National Park in all its glory opened up its gates for swimmers to head into the park and swim routes in Kraal Bay, in the Langebaan Lagoon. The water was calm, the sun was shining and of course, the famous West Coast Flowers were out.

Entering the water in Preekstoel, there was an event for every level of swimmer: An 800m route, a 1500m route and a 3200m route. The safety and support crew from Big Bay Events was there to encourage the swimmers and ensure safety along the route. After the swim, swimmers were able to visit, relax and picnic in the National Park. It was a thoroughly lovely day out and looking forward to this being an annual event.
