
Meet the Committee: An Interview with Maura Sanderoff
Maura Sanderoff, is a semi-retired architectural technologist from Simonstown in False Bay. Maura manages the information portfolio and the CLDSA Events calendar and maintains the Resources and Information sheets.

1.Tell us about your swimming journey so far: I grew up on the beaches in Simon’s Town, swam for school team, completed x4 Robben Islands, solo and relay, and Cape Point.
2. Tell us about your earliest swimming memory: Seaforth Beach at age 5yrs.
3. What is it that makes you love swimming? I am one with the elements.
4. What was your most challenging swim experience? Cape Point when I lost my skipper…but found the medic boat!!!
5. Can you describe your perfect week of training? No more training for long swims just casual swims x3 times a week.

6. What is a challenging aspect of swimming that you have overcome and how did you overcome it? Learning to swim with one leg, and learning to enter and exit water (help from my fellow swimming buddies always available!!!).
7. Where is your favourite swim spot? Clifton.
8. What was your favourite swim experience ever? Swimming around Cape Point looking up at the cliffs.
9. Do you have a bucket list swim? Swim around Robben Island.
10. Do you have a tip for an aspiring Open Water Swimmer? Relax Remain Retain Respect the sea always.
